I Love My Neighbor(hood)- Part 4
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Where do we see Jesus practice this?
“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” (Matthew 16:14)
“For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.” (Mark 8:35)
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13)
“Whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:26-28)
Make your own self-seeking the measure of your self-giving.
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ Matthew 22:37
God’s love to us must come before God’s love through us.
1 John 4:9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
11 Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ And … ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37,39
