Kingdom Come: Week 6
The Theology of Children
Luke 18:15-17
People were also bringing babies to Jesus to have him touch them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
“…do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
- The kingdom is literally for the kids.
- The kingdom is for those who are like kids.
Kids teach us to…
1. Run to Jesus.
2. Take God at his word.
Psalm 9:10 Those who know you, LORD, will trust you; you do not abandon anyone who comes to you.
3. Depend on God.
James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavily lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
4. Ask God for anything.
Hebrews 4:16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Ephesians 1:5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.
